It’s midday on Bank Holiday Monday, the sun is shining, and so are you. Is that a Maypole you see in the distance? The smell of Napolese pizza wafts up Park Street, a fiddle strikes and a lady drums her foot on the bandstand and begins to sing. As you get closer, bottle of apple juice in hand, you see a veritable feast materialising before your eyes. People are gathering with crock pots and slabs of cheese, with baguettes under arm they’re setting punnets down on the long trestle tables, and bringing the jams and chutneys produced the previous summer. So this is an “Eat-In!” you think to yourself as someone jumps on a hay-bale, thanks you for coming and invites you to raise your forks in the air in-support of food systems that are clean, fair and convivial.
Bristol Food Connections is a city-wide celebration across 10 days in May, dedicated to a celebration of all that is great about Bristol, and our broad, progressive food culture. The Sustainable Food Trust, Feeding the 5000, FoodCycle and Slow Food International are excited to invite you to join us in making Bank Holiday Monday a highlight of the week, the time when Bristol’s good food movement comes together to share a meal in a public space, and draw attention to the wealth of great producers and projects active across the city.
Our Eat-In! will be a gathering of Bristol’s food movers, growers, chefs and hungry public. Celebrating the edible wonders of the South West, with donations from the Gleaning Network, Trealy Farm charcuterie, Keens Cheddar, Stream Farm lamb, and many more. We will share a meal together, listen to passionate guest-speakers, and network together to share ideas, thoughts, projects and plans
Bring a dish to share, friends, ideas and instruments. We’ll provide the rest.
Please note: this Event has now sold-out on Eventbrite. If you would like to attend, please still leave your name on the waiting list. We are limited to 150 places at the table, but everyone is still welcome to come to College Green, bring a picnic blanket and visit the Slow Food pizzeria
