Studying for an MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation at the Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, Hugh’s interests span energy provision, resilient food systems, and soil microbial diversity; in particular how these elements might be integrated.
Previously Hugh was part of the Ethical Consumer Remote Research Team and volunteered at the Hulme Community Garden Centre in Manchester. He gained further insights into organic growing methods working locally through the WWOOF network. In 2016 he studied for a Permaculture Design Certificate at Sector 39. He now assists in the running of Fungusloci, Stroud and volunteers in the Press Office at the Soil Association.
In his spare time Hugh enjoys experimenting on his vegetable plot; mulching with spent mushroom substrate and growing with the Three Sisters crop method.
