Throughout the month of December, Hubbub will be bringing back their Festive Freeze campaign to help you waste less this Christmas.

In the UK, nearly a quarter of the household spend goes on food during the Christmas season. With so many other things to think about at this time of year, it’s not surprising that nearly a fifth of the food we buy goes to waste. This year, Hubbub want to make it as easy as possible for you to save money and fight food waste, while still enjoying the festivities! From the 1st until the 25th December, they will be releasing a new fact, tip, recipe or prize through their Festive Freeze Advent Calendar.

These tips will not only cover food but will also include craft tips on how to have a waste free Christmas. As we approach the 25th December, Hubbub will also be sharing a new freezer friendly recipe for leftover Christmas dishes from a top chef.

Here’s what you will have missed so far:

Get to know your fridge or freezer – 1st December

Make space for your festive leftovers by organising your freezer and cooking your leftovers.

Make a list, check it twice – 2nd December

Get in the festive freeze spirit by making a list of what food you’ve got in your kitchen. This will help you remember what you need next time you pop to the shops. Most can be frozen right up to the ‘use by’ date, so if you find something you forgot about – get freezing.

Round robin – 3rd December

Don’t leave your friends and family out in the cold. Tell them about the #FestiveFreeze Advent Calendar!

Love your Christmas tree – 4th December

Do something different this year and get a Christmas tree that you can replant. Living or pot grown trees cleanse the air and are a great home to many species of wildlife. Alternatively keep it local – find your local pick your own Christmas tree. You could even grow your own in your garden for next year!
