Do you have an exciting food project that needs support to get off the ground? Set up in 2013 by food brand experts The Collaborators, the Seed Fund gives emerging food businesses in the South West the chance to turn their ideas into a reality.
Over the course of a year, the winning business will be presented with £100,000 worth of support through help with developing a brand identity and packaging design, business planning and mentoring from leading specialists, including The Collaborators, Purple Fish PR and Crumbs magazine.
The winners of the 2013 Seed Fund were Bird and Wild, an ethical single estate coffee that is not only organic but also grown in a way that protects the habitats of migratory birds. Ben and Tom Roberts’ coffee adventure began with a small coffee house in Dorset, where they sourced coffee from different countries across the globe and roasted the beans on site. The support they received in developing the story behind their product and to drive awareness of it in the marketplace helped the brand to flourish. Fully traceable from bean all the way to cup, Bird and Wild is now the leading bird-friendly coffee in Britain and is stocked in well-known suppliers such as Planet Organic, Whole Foods and Selfridges.
To have a chance of winning the Seed Fund support, you need to write a description of your product in less than 500 words on this application form. The closing date for entries is Tuesday 7th April.
