River Cottage is renowned for their commitment to sustainability, procurement and self-sufficiency, so where better to train the next generation of budding young chefs?
Following a successful first year, River Cottage is once again on the lookout for young chefs between the ages of 16-24 to join their award winning Young Chef Apprenticeship Scheme.
Over the course of 12 months, successful applicants will receive professional tutoring at River Cottage HQ on core preparation and cooking techniques, with a strong emphasis on the themes of sustainability, seasonality and locality. The scheme will also give apprentices the opportunity to work at some of the best restaurants and hotels across the South West.
Sam Lomas, a River Cottage Apprentice and Rising Star 2013 reflected, “I think my career prospects have expanded exponentially as a result of being on the River Cottage Apprenticeship Scheme. I truly believe that this apprenticeship is the most exciting food education scheme in the country, the knowledge and skills I’ve acquired, the people I’ve worked with and the opportunities which now present themselves have all completely exceeded my expectations. The River Cottage apprenticeship scheme has most importantly expanded my passion for food and sustainable food production”.
Programmes will commence in both June and September of this year and is free to those who meet the eligibility criteria. For more information, visit www.rivercottage.net
