Catherine Broomfield is an advocate for the role of native breeds in sustainable grass-based systems of food production and environmental management, having farmed with her family for 17 years on her traditional mixed farm in Devon. The farm has variously been recognised as a Soil Association organic demonstration farm and a Natural England beacon farm for its innovative programme of Educational Access.
Catherine’s career spans technology, farming, and rural enterprise. She now combines her experience and skills in these sectors to encourage research into better analysis and understanding of the public health and environmental benefits arising from grass-based livestock farming. She is a member of Rothamsted Research’s Scientific & Impact Advisory Board.
As a freelance consultant she works with farming organisations to help them communicate effectively with their publics. She writes on food & farming for the mainstream and farming press and can be found on twitter @1_udder_thing.
