Martin Bowman is a campaigner for This Is Rubbish, currently working on their campaign and petition to cut Europe’s food waste in half by 2030. He also worked on their Stop the Rot campaign, calling for the end of food waste in UK supermarket supply chains, which is supported by over 240,000 people, including Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Friends of the Earth and many more.
Martin is also the UK gleaning coordinator for Feedback’s Gleaning Network, a national network of volunteers to harvest fruit and vegetables that otherwise would have been wasted on UK farms, and redistribute them to charities like FareShare.
He founded a chapter of Food Not Bombs in South East London and studied an MSc in Globalisation and Development at the School of Oriental and African Studies, writing his dissertation on food waste in India. His other interests include anti-arms campaigning, food sovereignty, anti-cuts movements and climate change.
