These stories are about farmers who are making sustainable farming a reality already, each in their own unique way starting on their patch of land.
What does sustainable farming really mean in practice? There are many recommendations and theories on the best way to make agriculture more sustainable, but what solutions farmers have come up with themselves and how are they making them work? Farmers have to navigate multiple challenges, from changing markets, policies and regulations to declining soil fertility, environmental pollution, loss of wildlife and unpredictable weather patterns. And, all this goes on alongside the huge physical and mental stresses of running a farm.
These stories are about farmers who are making sustainable farming a reality, each in their own unique way, starting on their patch of land. In these films and articles, which we hope to add to over time, we hear the voices of farmers who are doing something different, innovative or even daring. The SFT hopes these examples will prove helpful to others wanting to make their farms more sustainable and would welcome recommendations about other suitable farms we might visit as and when resources permit.
