Last month, a newly formed coalition was launched in response to the growing threat of antibiotic resistance. Made up of civil society organisations from across six continents, the Antibiotic Resistance Coalition has released a declaration outlining their concerns at the lack of leadership in response to this crisis.
In the interview below, Richard Young, SFT Policy Director and one of the founding members of the coalition, speaks to Radio New Zealand about some of the issues surrounding antibiotic resistance, including overuse in both humans and animals, and why we need a global response if we are to safeguard antibiotics for future generations.
